Tatarstan

Tatarstan is situated in the central part of the Russian Federation on the East European Plain, on the junction point of two biggest European rivers Volga and Kama. The territory of the republic occupies 67 836.2 square km. The capital is the city of Kazan.

Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed regions of the Russian Federation. The main resources are oil, land and water.

The republic possesses a powerful scientific and intellectual potential. The leading industries are oil and petro chemistry, aircraft building, instrument and mechanical engineering.
