"We look forward to seeing you at the Kazan Universiade!"

On July 26 the Tatarstan delegation presented the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 at the Seliger 2010 Youth Innovative Forum

The presentation was made by Minister for Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov and head of the of the Volunteers Department of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Liliya Bariyeva.

The 300-seat pavilion that featured three largest international short-term projects of Russia (APEC 2012 Summit in Vladivostok, Universiade 2013 and Olympics 2014) was attended by nearly 700 forum participants. In the meantime Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Vladislav Surkov was holding the meeting with the forum entrants.

During the Kazan Universiade presentation Rafis Burganov particularly mentioned the unique character of the sports venues and infrastructure objects that would serve the cause of the Tatarstan studentship. He also underlined the significant role of the upcoming World Student Games in generation and promotion of ideas of healthy lifestyle and mass development of physical education and sports, especially among youth.

The minister remarked that the Kazan Universiade would draw 13,000 athletes, 1,500 media representatives, 50,000 supporters and tourists that were to remember Kazan’s hospitality for a long time. More than 20,000 volunteers will be involved in staging of the 2013 Universiade.
The presentation about volunteers training was made by Liliya Bariyeva. She told the Seliger forum participants about all the areas of volunteer activity, their training and tutoring and also volunteer reward scheme. According to Liliya Bariyeva, the Tatarstan volunteers have already taken part in organization and staging of more than 60 largest events of republican, national and international scale. That’s why they are constantly amassing volunteer experience. “This summer in the frame of the international volunteer camp we managed to involve in the Universiade-2013 volunteering young people from other Russian regions and even from abroad. We will retry such a training experiment next year as well,” Liliya Bariyeva said.

It is noteworthy that when presenting the APEC 2012 Summit in Vladivostok and the 2014 Olympics both the Vladivostok and Sochi delegates referred to the Tatarstan experience of volunteer management noting Kazan’s successful findings in volunteer training.

By the way the Tatarstan delegates were not the only Universiade-2013 ambassadors at Seliger-2010. About a hundred out of 6,000 forum entrants had participated in the Towards the Universiade international volunteer camp earlier in June and they were wearing the volunteer camp T-shirts at Seliger. Later on these young people joined the presentation programme of the World Summer Student Games that was followed by a quiz about Kazan and the Universiade. The Univesiade-2013 presentation pavilion was running all day long and was attended by nearly 2,000 young people who volunteered for the Universiade.
