Universiade-2013 project introduced at “Russia – country of sports” forum28.07.2010

The “Modern Sport: Innovations and Perspectives” Exhibition is one of the major forum events with the Tatarstan exposition located in the central site of the pavilion. Among the projects presented by the Tatarstan delegation the Universiade Village is the key sports venue project of the World Summer Student Games in Kazan. The exhibition attendants will have a chance to see the presentation of the International center which will house an accreditation center for athletes and a series of largest Universiade-2013 venues as well – Tennis Academy, Rowing Sports Center, 45,000-seat football stadium, Aquatics Center.

The international forum will host another events: official meetings, research and practice conferences, round tables, workshops and also the II International Sports Film Festival. The forum will also feature a few sporting events such as the Russian Street Basket Championship, the European Junior Canoe and Kayak Championship, the Sambo Cup of the President of the Russian Federation.

A number of events were dedicated to the World Summer Student Games 2013 in Kazan. Thus signing of the Memorandum of Understanding of the FISU international education center in Russia is scheduled for July, 30. It is expected that Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy Vitaly Mutko, President of the Russian Student’s Sports Union Oleg Matytsin and other officials will attend the event.

Apart from this the Memorandum of Understanding of the European Students’ Union and Association of Students’ Sports unions of the CIS countries in the field of implementation of educational programmes is due to be signed.

The Forum will also host the Council under the Russian President for development of physical culture and sports, high achievements sports, preparation and staging of the XXII Winter Olympic and XI Paralympic Games 2014 in Sochi, the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.

The “Problems and prospects for international cooperation in the sphere of student sports” round table will also take place on July 30.

We remind that the first “Russia – Country of Sports” forum was held in Kazan from October 22-25, 2009. In March 2010 by the Presidential Decree the Forum was awarded the international status.
