Youth Olympic Games: results of freestyle wrestling events 18.08.2010
On August 16 Svetlana Lipatova captured a bronze medal in women’s 60 kg freestyle wrestling at the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore
17-year-old athlete from Tatarstan defeated Dzhanan Ahmed from Bulgaria 3-0.
A day later the Russian athletes earned two more freestyle wrestling medals. The shortest match featured a 20-second long final meet between Azamatbi Pshnatlov (Russia) and Bakhodur Kodirov (Tajikistan) in men’s 63 kg freestyle wrestling. 17-year-old wrestler from Mordovia Aldar Balzhinimaev snatched a gold medal from Mehran Sheikh in men’s 46 kg freestyle wrestling. A week before the YOG both wrestlers showed good results at the European Youth Championship and earned tickets to the Youth Olympics. According to coach Andzor Tembotov the wrestlers it was a must-win attitude, intense training sessions and will to victory that enabled them to succeed.
