Young journalists are to write about Universiade 28.06.2010
Today the XV Republican festival of children’s, adolescent and youth press called the Altyn kalem-2010 (the Gold quill-2010) is to open in Tatarstan. A special prize was established for the best piece devoted to the 2013 Universiade.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov, officials of ministries and departments of the Republic and mainstream media of Tatarstan.
The festival was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of the Tatarstan Union of Journalists, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Faculty of Journalism and Sociology of Kazan (Volga region) Federal University and New Media Youth news agency of the Republic of Tatarstan.
90 young festival finalists from all the regions of Tatarstan will participate within the week in the contests of professional skills. The festival is divided into four sections: press, television, radio and photography (in two official languages of the Republic).
The traditional Boris Polevoy ship with «the brothers of the quill» on board will sail for the following itinerary: Kazan-Samara-Saratov-Volgograd-Usovka-Samara-Kazan. In every city the participants will have creative assignments organized for them.

Each day of the festival has a theme. For instance, on June 28 all the contests are devoted to Youth Day. June 29 coincides with Teacher’s Day in Tatarstan. June 30, day three of the festival, will be held under the auspices of the 2013 Universiade in Kazan. On July 1 and 2 the contests will be dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
