Hyundai appeared as one of the candidates to become Kazan 2013′s official transportation partner. Today, on the ground in front of the Plenipotentiary Representative Office of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, Hyundai presented several models: two passenger cars, a minivan and a bus with 43 seats. All vehicles had the official Kazan 2013 logo. Rustam Minnikhanov inspected the cars and their technical specifications.
The event was followed by the meeting with the executives of the company led by First Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company’s European division Rhim Byung Kwon that took place in the Plenipotentiary Representative Office of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation. Tatarstan’s side was represented by President Rustam Minnikhanov, Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov, Minister of Transport and Road Construction Lenar Safin and other officials.
The parties discussed the necessity of creating a vehicle fleet for transporting athletes, coaching staff, media representatives and fans during the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan. The new car fleet is assumed to consist of modern and comfortable vehicles. According to expert estimates, more than 1,000 vehicles (executive cars, minivans, buses, etc) will be required to cover the needs of the Universiade.
Representatives of Hyundai assured that they had experience necessary for providing service for large international sporting events, the FIFA World Cup in particular. They consider an opportunity to become the official partner of the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan as an important step in their cooperation with Tatarstan. Moreover, the company is interested in further partnership with Tatarstan, especially in the light of the upcoming events, such as the 2015 FINA Aquatics Championships and World Cup 2018.
During the meeting, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov offered to give careful consideration to the price policy which is to be established within the cooperation with Hyundai Motor Company. It is expected that the company’s representatives will visit Kazan in the near future in order to continue the negotiation process. Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov said that transportation partnership was being negotiated with several other companies at the moment.
Let us remind that a transportation master plan has been specifically developed for the 2013 Summer Universiade; the plan defines routes, ways of moving athletes, visitors, delegates, spectators and volunteers between the large network of Kazan 2013 venues. Apart from that, experts of Team 2013 examined the experience of their Chinese colleagues at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen when a specific lane was allocated to Universiade vehicles and special car plates were issued for Kazan 2013 buses and coaches. The Kazan 2013 car fleet will include passenger vehicles, minivans and buses; the drivers of the Universiade will be given internships to ensure they have the knowledge they need to carry out their role.
