Volunteers finish their work at taekwondo tournament 30.01.2012
The volunteers of Kazan 2013 say goodbye to the athletes from 40 European countries giving the finishing touch to the European Taekwondo Qualification Tournament for the 2012 Olympic Games in London
Last weekend Kazan hosted the first this year international sport event — European Taekwondo Qualification Tournament that gave the winners a ticket to the Olympics 2012 in London. More than 80 Kazan 2013 volunteers helped to organize and carry out the event, assisting in meeting, accommodating and transporting the guests. They also worked on sport grounds of the Ak Bars Wrestling Palace and assisted the teams.
As the volunteers themselves mentioned, the international tournament is a chance to meet and communicate with the future participants of the Olympic Games, practice one’s English skills and have fun with friends. «It is always great to take part in such events. You can choose your schedule, get a free uniform, food and with the accreditation to the event you can be there where regular visitors and sport fans have no chance to be,» says volunteer team leader of Kazan 2013 Evgenia Malazina.
Let us remind that the European Taekwondo Qualification Tournament for the 2012 Olympic Games in London hosted more than 300 athletes from 40 countries as well as officials and VIP-guests. The winners obtained license for their countries and will participate in the Olympics in June this year.
