Volunteers are first helpers 10.07.2010
More than 80 volunteers work at the VII European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship.
It’s hard to imagine flawless management of the tournament, work with the athletes, comfortable stay and entertainment of numerous guests. Thus 45 volunteers work on the courts, 23 are attaches of nationals teams, 4 students help on information booths and 8 young people assist in the work of the press-center. Besides 10 volunteers are involved in the work of transportation, accreditation, accommodation and catering.

Albina Khusainova is a team leader at the Beach Volleyball Championship. It’s her first team leading experience.
“I’ve been an interpreter and attache before, team leading is a great experience of managing a large group of people. Another advantage is that we practice our language skills and make new friends”, Albina says.
Albina started her volunteer activity after arriving from America where she had been studying in the University of Minnesota.
“Thanks to the Algarysh staff training and retraining program of the Republic of Tatarstan I served my apprenticeship in America. When helping to organize conferences for the first time I came across volunteers. As a volunteer I went to Belgrad for the 2011 Universiade. Following which I also volunteered for the Silk Way rally-raid where I was an attache of the KAMAZ-Master team, the “Russia – country of sports” forum where I worked as an interpreter of the International Taekwon-Do Federation. Within the frame if the FISU CT Chairs’ visit to Kazan I escorted a CT Chair for Volleyball”, Albina says.
It stands to mention that the European Championship also drew the schoolchildren volunteers to whom student volunteers gave the Universiade presentations at their schools. It’s their first event. And surely not the last one.
“We get bored during summer break. An during the Championship we have a chance to communicate with athletes from different countries. I’ve been working as an attache of a Russian team at the Shotgun Shooting Championship. I like the atmosphere of friendship very much”, 9-grade schoolgirl Regina Mubarakshina shares her experience.
The tournament entrants recommend the work of the volunteers. “Our team appreciates the work of the volunteers. We are sincerely grateful to them and especially our attache for being with us”, says Pedro Marcus from the Technical University of Lisbon (Portugal).
