Russians are in playoff of European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship 07.07.2010
The scheduled pool play games of the European Beach Volleyball Championship were held today.
The Russian supporters can rejoice for our students’ teams which are in the playoff now almost in full complement. In the morning the players of Kuban State Institute of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Vorotnikova/Vakulenko won a very important game. The Russians and the team of Czestochowa University of Technology (Poland) played on the main court. The Kazan spectators enjoyed an intense contest of both teams that demonstrated a good level of performance. To decide the winners the girls had to play the third set which finished with a 16-14 score. Anastasia Vorotnikova and Oksana Vakulenko placed second in their pool.
The men’s event between Kuban State Institute of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism (Russia) and the University of Gazi (Turkey) was also very spectacular. Russian sportsmen Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Artem Kucherenko showed the fans a well-coordinated play and won the first set 21-16. Despite the pressure from Turkish sportsmen Ali Kandan and Jevat Shimshek in the second set the Russians stayed inbeaten. The third straight win of Artem and Viacheslav on the Kazan court secured their first place in the pool.
Victoria Rastykus and Daria Yarzutkina from Moscow played their second game early in the morning. The team of Moscow Institute of Business and Law (Russia) encountered the girls from the Institute of Warsaw (Poland). Victoria and Daria took the lead from the very beginning of the game and upset the competitors with a 2-0 score. The second win at the tournament enables the Russian tandem of Rastykus/Yarzutkina to get in the playoff from the top rank in the pool.
