Russian girls advance to final 09.07.2010

The Day 4 evening program of the European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship started with the men’s events.

At the beginning Buehler/Catschegn (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) secured a victory over the Polish duo of Sinczak/Lisiecki (University of Lodz) 2-0. On July 10 the Swiss tandem will stand against Sobczak/Janiak (University of Lodz).

Sobczak/Janiak study at the same University of Lodz and they took revenge on another Swiss pair Foelmli/Lier 2-0. So both the final game and the bronze medal match will feature a Poland vs Switzerland stand.

The first set 21-17 win of the Russian team brought hope to their supporters. The second set saw an easier 21-12 win and the match ended with a total 2-0 score. Now the Russian girls will encounter the German pair of Malchow/Schroeder (University of Potsdam) in the final. The latter knocked off Gajewska/Saad (University of Finance and Management in Bialystok) 2-0. So the Polish duos will fight for the third place.
