RF Government held Universiade 2013 Organising Committee session 04.08.2010
Today, on August 4, the regular session of the Organising Committee for the XXVII World Summer Student Games took place in Moscow. The session was chaired by Igor Shuvalov, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister – Chairman of the Universiade 2013 Organising Committee
The session was also attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Minister of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation Natalya Parshikova, RT Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov, Executive Director of the Russian Olympic Committee Marat Bariyev, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee Vladimir Leonov and other officials.
There was a series of issues on the agenda: Universiade preparation progress; Universiade sports heritage; transport infrastructure, medical maintenance, anti-doping control, health and epidemiological supervision; ICT strategy; Universiade cultural programmes.
Summing up the discussion Mr Igor Shuvalov noted that construction progress of the Universiade venues and of the Universiade Village proceeded according to schedule and in the near future students of Volga Region Federal University will get a unique student campus at their disposal. The OC Chairman pointed out a high level of the Universiade volunteer training programme and mentioned that Kazan volunteers would be involved in the APEC 2012 in Vladivostok. As it was underlined during the OC panel discussion the Universiade preparation progresses according to the World Summer Student Games sports programme approved by the FISU Executive Committee in November, 2009.
Studying the logistics concept for the 2013 Universiade Mr Shuvalov noted that in accordance with the FISU requirements it was necessary to upgrade Kazan’s transport infrastructure and supported major guidelines for its preparation. The ICT programme envisages creation of the telecommunication and information network which provides an integrated control and security system of the Games. The implementation plan of the ICT programme stipulates a significant amount of work aimed at modernization of the existing systems as well as at construction of new information systems. The concept of medical, anti-doping, sanitary and epidemiological maintenance stipulates a complex of measures focused on organisation of medical service of all the Universiade participants: athletes, officials, judges, spectators.
The concept of the Universiade 2013 cultural programme was developed in the frame of preparation and holding of the World Student Games. It includes the flag handover ceremony in 2011, opening and closing ceremonies of the 2013 World Student Games and a series of cultural events during the Kazan Universiade.
On the whole the concepts presented at the session were taken as a basis. Mr Shuvalov commissioned the federal ministries and the Tatarstan Cabinet on the issues discussed at the OC session with a view to continuing preparation and organisation of the Kazan Universiade.
