Republic of Tatarstan – best sports region of Russia 30.07.2010
On July 29 in the framework of the “Russia – Сountry of Sports” forum the physical culture and sports prize laureates award ceremony took place in Moscow.
The Republic of Tatarstan was named the best constituent entity of Russia for contribution to sports development in the Region of Russia nomination.
Race walker Valery Borchin and biathlete Olga Zaitseva became the country’s best athletes, RIA Novosti informs.
Freestyle wrestling specialist Imanmurza Aliyev got the country’s Best Coach Award. The Hope of Russia Prize in the Best Sports School nomination went to the Moscow Specialized Children and Youth Sports Schools of the Olympic Reserve in synchronous swimming.
The Vityaz central sports club of Podolsk was awarded the Best Adaptive Sports Organisation Prize.
Russian rhythmic gymnastics national team coach Irina Viner received the Prize for Contribution to Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Life Dedicated to Sports nomination.
In the Sports Solidarity nomination International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Juan Antonio Samaranch was awarded the Prize for Strengthening of the International Sports Relations posthumously. IOC member Vitaly Smirnov accepted the award on his behalf. “Quite recently we’ve lost the person who loved our country, who loved sports. He was a true friend and brother. The award will be forwarded to his family in Spain,” Smirnov said.
Olympic champion gymnast Larisa Latynina was awarded the Prize for Years of Work for the Good of Development of Sports in Russia in the Epoch in Sports nomination.
Paralympic athletes Dmitry Kokarev and Olesya Vladykina got the Best Athlete Awards in the Overcoming nomination and Irina Gromova was named the best coach in adaptive sports. In the Sports Parnassus nomination the “The Man Ivan Yarygin” documentary won the Prize for Contribution to Propagation of Physical Culture, Sports and Healthy Way of Life. Dmitry Guberniyev was named the best journalist and the Best Sports Press and Media Production Award went to Sovetsky Sport newspaper.
The Biathlon sports and fitness centre of Ufa won in the Best Sports Venue nomination.
