27th Summer Universiade, July 6-17 2013, Kazan

One, two, three, light the Universiade Village fir-tree! 27.12.2011

The Universiade Village fir-tree was solemnly inaugurated on December 26 to mark the countdown to the New Year and Christmas season. Student campus residents had a unique chance to meet 13 Father Frosts at once. You should have seen those Fathers Frost!

A solemn parade of 13 Fathers Frost passed through the central street of the Universiade Village. Cheered and applauded by the crowd, 13 fairy-tale characters marched through the human corridor, heading to the fir-tree.

«One, two, three, light the fir-tree!» exclaimed the students that gathered around the main symbol of New Year decorated with a star on the top, lights and illuminations, and the New Year tree was lit up. From now on the Universiade Village fir-tree will please the eye of visitors and campus residents.

The students enjoyed another present they received from the Fathers Frost, a dance marathon to everlasting songs performed by the fairy-tale characters. One could envy lightness and enthusiasm with which Fathers Frost were moving and warming the crowd up. Their dance performances pleased the audience and were deservedly granted best dancer awards.

«Last year we had only one Father Frost, and this year there are 13 of them. We are growing and currently we are having 6,000 people residing in the Universiade Village now. I want to wish all of us to grow both in terms of quantity and quality. Let the upcoming year be filled with kindness and bright atmosphere. Have faith in your abilities and in your future!» extended his greetings Universiade Village Mayor Farid Abdulganiev.

Winners of various competitions and students most actively involved in events held in the Universiade Village were awarded after the first part of the programme ended. We remind you, that numerous cultural, sporting and health improvement events, mind games, competitions and trivia quizzes are organised in the student campus on a weekly basis.
