Lyudmila Kolchanova from Tatarstan became a triple jump Russian champion. In the Russian Championship in Saransk Kolchanova was the only entrant to produce a triple jump of more than 7 meters.

Lyudmila Kolchanova took the lead in the final with a 6.82 meter result in maiden try. Later on she made two 6.83 and 6.93 meter jumps. In her final try Kolchanova performed a winning 7.01 meter jump. This is the third result in the world season. Notably two previous records belong to Russian athletes Olga Kucherenko (7.13 m) and Daria Klishina (7.03 m). Though Kucherenko and Klishina failed to get through to the top 3 winners of the Russian Championship. Kucherenko placed fourth (6.78 m) and Klishina took the fifth place (6.73 m).

Multi-title holder Tatiana Kotova got silver with a 6.90 meter result. And Olympics and Winter All Around World Championship bronze winner Tatiana Chernova came in a good third place with a personal 6.79 record as reported at the official site of the All-Russian Athletic Federation.
