Kazan Hosts World Kuresh Wrestling Championship 26.05.2010
The first representative World Tatar Kuresh Belt Wrestling Championship started in Kazan
- The first Tatar Kuresh Wrestling Championship started in Ak Bars Wrestling Palace. To participate in competitions more than sixty athletes gathered in the capital of the Republic from Russia, China, Turkmenistan, Abkhazia, Iran, Pakistan, Mongolia, Korea, India, Latvia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.
- At an opening ceremony of the competitions Tatarstan leaders particularly emphasized the importance and significance of the tournament in the run-up to the Universiade-2013 where kuresh wrestling has been included for the first time.

The tournament is held in 5 weight categories: 65, 75, 85, 100 kilograms and above 100 kilograms. Russian team is represented by 5 wrestlers. Two of them represent Tatarstan: Ruslan Nurgaliev who lives and trains in Almetyevsk, and Leniz Abdullin – in Kazan.
