Volga Region Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism
The Volga Region Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism was established in July 2010 and will be based on the Kama Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism with the Naberzhnye Chelny branch continuing to operate.
Zilant Multifunctional Sports Complex
The Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism trains physical education teachers, sports school coaches, therapeutic physical training instructors, specialists of health, fitness and rehabilitation centres, sports managers, sporting events organisers, tourism and service experts.
In order to provide high quality education, research and training, the academy operates a new modern laboratory building, eight high-tech sports venues that are to host the 2013 Summer Universiade and Cluster C of the Universiade Village designed to accommodate 3,700 international students, graduate students, national teams and teaching staff.
Tennis Academy
The laboratory building and three sports venues of the academy are located on the premises of the Universiade Village in the Privolzhsky District of Kazan. The concept of the student campus is new for Russia. The venue offers student accommodation and runs all the facilities needed for their studies, work and recreation, such as laundries, a medical station, a video room.
Among the Volga Region Academy’s graduates there are such outstanding athletes as Olympic hurdle race champion Gulnara Galkina-Samitova, three-time champion of Russia and Zenit St Petersburg striker Alexander Bukharov, World Class Master of Sports and Atlanta Olympic participant Firaya Sultanova, World Class Master of Sports and Athens Olympic participant Alexey Zatsepin and many others.
Ak Bars Wrestling Palace
The academy is to become an international centre of sports studies. The academy-based FISU International Education Centre which is to open in Kazan soon will focus on international specialist training. Moreover, the National Team Reserve Training Centre which is to be set up in the academy, will unite best athletes from all over the country. The academy will comprise the Institute of Further and Continuing Education, Graduate School of Coaching, Scientific and Research Institute of Exercise hysiology and Recreation Therapy.
