July 6-17 2013

Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra

The Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra (TNSO) under the direction of Honoured Artist of Russia Alexander Sladkovsky is one of Russia’s most prominent orchestral ensembles.

Four international festivals – the Rakhlin Seasons, the White Lilac, the Kazan Autumn and the Concordia – established by the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra are among the most spectacular and notable public events in the cultural life of Tatarstan and Russia.

The orchestra launched the Republic Heritage project for gifted music schoolchildren and conservatory students, and the Music Lessons with the Orchestra educational project for children of Kazan, as well as started the Musical Healing cycle for disabled and gravely ill children. In 2011 the orchestra became the winner of the Philanthropist of the Year Awards established by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

On 5 April 2011, the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate and the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra signed a cooperation agreement. Pursuant to this agreement, the orchestra cooperates with the Kazan 2013 SU organisers to promote the values of the 27th Summer Universiade among citizens of Tatarstan and Russia and helps select talented young performers for the Cultural Universiade and the Games Opening/Closing Ceremonies.
