International Students and Graduates’ Association of Kazan

The International Students and Graduates’ Association of the city of Kazan (AISA) is a youth non-governmental organisation that unites international students and graduates studying in Kazan’s higher education institutions. The NGO conducts its activities based on such principles as equality of rights among its members, joint leadership and transparency of the decision making process.

The AISA was established by the Foreign Students' Association in Russia in 2007. As of 2011, the Association comprised up to 3,500 international students. The AISA membership is increasing continuously on a daily basis.

The organisation facilitates a series of cultural, sporting and scientific events. Special mention should be given to the ‘world’ mini football championship for international students studying in higher education institutions of Kazan, Pearl of the World Beauty Contest. AISA members are constant participants in international student events, the recent ones are the World Youth Forum in Rhodes Island, Greece, 1,000 Days to Go until Sochi 2014 celebrations and Eurasian Economic Youth Forum.

February 20th, 2012 is a new milestone in the history of the AISA. It was the day when a cooperation agreement was signed with the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee. The first joint event, the roundtable discussion titled Intercultural Communication towards 2013 Summer Universiade, took place as early as in May 2012. An agreement was reached with the AISA to attract Kazan’s international students to serve as attachés and team hosts during the 2013 Games.
