McDonald’s is an Official Partner of the 27th Summer Universiade Kazan 2013. As part of its partnership agreement, the largest fast food chain will provide free food for participants of the Games, the athletes living in the Universiade Village.
McDonald’s will conduct a special PR campaign to support the 2013 World University Summer Games by placing information about the Summer Universiade on its packaging and paraphernalia. In addition to that, the company will send the best employees of the Volga Federal District to Kazan to serve meals to athletes and guests of the most important multi-sport event of the year. It will also give young winners of the Kazan leg of the Golden Puck Children’s Ice Hockey Tournament the opportunity to visit the Games. McDonald’s has been the title sponsor of this tournament for five years now.

McDonald’s is traditionally the official sponsor of the Summer and Winter Olympics, the European Championships and the World Cup. McDonald’s will also have the status of Official Restaurant at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, providing food to the athletes and guests of the Olympic Games from around the world.
In addition to sports events, McDonald's in Russia also supports sports on local level. It conducts the McDonald's-Golden Puck Ice Hockey Tournament for children’s amateur teams and sponsors the Vladislav Tretiak Cup International Junior Hockey Tournament. McDonald's takes actions to inform and educate children about sports. It conducts Olympic Lessons at schools, children's relay races at summer camps and Be Active! Family Relay Races at outdoor venues in different cities of Russia.
