In the final day of judo competitions at the Universiade in Kazan the Russian team failed to win a medal in the team tournament, losing to Japan in the semifinals, and after that, to the Brazilians in the battle for bronze. “I would have liked to win the playoffs, but we lost. This is not the fault of any of the guys, as we were tired on the day of the fight. Everybody’s strength and nerves had reached their limit. We just lacked a little bit physically. Of course, it is a same we left without a medal. Every fighter is ashamed to walk away without a medal, even more so because we fought well, defeating a strong Uzbekistan team, but ultimately it didn’t work out”, Kirill Voprosov said.

The judoka noted that for him the Universiade was a special tournament in terms of emotion and experience. "Everyone started from the same place. Everyone set a goal for themselves and tried to achieve it. You know, for me, the Universiade is not the first big event I’ve had during my 15 years in the sport – I react without emotion. I'm used to filled stands. Now we will prepare for the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro”, the athlete said.
