Russian Junior Diving Championship: Day 3 preliminary results

The preliminaries of the third day of the Russian Junior Diving Championship concluded today in Kazan.

The women's 1m springboard (Group A) and platform (Group B) and the men's 3m springboard (Group A) finals will be held later in the evening. 

After three days of the competition, Olga Kulemina, who represents Penza, is pursuing her second gold medal. On Friday, she won in the 3m springboard event, and on Sunday she reached the final with the best score. Though Olga was not very confident in the compulsory dives, she performed the optional dives much better.

Women's Springboard 1m Group A Preliminaries

The final will be held at 5.00pm on Sunday.

Moscow's Yulia Timoshina reached the final in the women's platform event, Group B, with a pretty good score. After the compulsory dives, the leader was Leila Salyamova, of Saratov, but she managed to get only 25.50 points for her first optional dive. Timoshina took advantage of her rival's mistake and placed first.

All the participants went through to the final, which will take place at 6.00pm on Sunday.

Men's Springboard 3m Group A Preliminaries

The main rivals in the springboard event, Group A, were again Ilya Molchanov, of Elektrostal, and Ilya Kuzmin, of Penza. They led in the 1m springboard, and it looks like they are going to be winners in the next event as well. However, Artyom Shpanov may interfere as his performance of the optional programme was great.
