"This is my first international competition. I've been doing weightlifting for a year and a half only so I was very nervous. But I was lucky. I want to thank my coaches for giving me a chance to compete in Kazan. And I did not let them down. I already settled for bronze when the Egyptian girl was carrying out her sixth attempt. And then I looked at the scoreboard and saw that she failed in her attempt, and I was very happy. My coach even broke his lip when he was hugging me," Kobeleva said after the event.

Medals in the final events of the Kazan championships will be up for grabs at the Sport Palace on June 28. The male lifters will compete for podium spots in the 105 kg and +105 kg events.

The senior coach of the women's junior team, Kirill Zavadsky, gave thumb-up to the national team's performance in Kazan, and commended the tournament's management.

"I would like to thank the organisers of the competition and the Ministry of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is one of the best tournaments within my knowledge. If you compare it with others, it's a day and night difference. And all my foreign colleagues mention how nicely accommodation and catering are arranged here. The competition and training halls were to a high standard," said Zavadzky.
