IWF Junior World Championships: Victor Getts claims silver in snatch

Day 4 of the Junior World Championships wraps up in Kazan.


Russian weightlifter Victor Getts took silver in the snatch at the world junior weightlifting tournament that is currently underway in Kazan. He was edged out by China's Ying Su, who lifted 3 kilos more than his rival from Russia. Getts had a good chance of winning a medal in the total of both lifts but he failed to lift 185 kg in all the three attempts and was eliminated. Ying Su got the top spot on the podium with a total of 348 kg, Maged Mohamed of Egypt placed second and Dayanch Ashyrov of Turkmenistan picked up bronze.

Medals in the women's 69 kg and men's 85 kg events will be up for grabs at the IWF Junior World Championships on June 25. Ksenia Maksimova, Ani Sargsyan and Artem Okulov will represent the Russian national team at these events. The competition starts at 17.00 and 19.00.
