Festival Chaliapin.Nureyev.Kazan ends with grand gala concert

On July 17, on the last day of the Universiade in Kazan, the grand gala concert of the Chaliapin.Nureyev.Kazan International Music Festival was held as part of the Cultural Universiade in the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil.

The Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra conducted by People's Artist of Russia, Artistic Director of the Mariinsky Theatre Valery Gergiev and the Honoured Artist of Russia, People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Renat Salavatov performed a number of the most popular works of famous composers: Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Giuseppe Verdi, Gioacchino Rossini, Sergei Rachmaninov, Modest Mussorgsky, Glinka and others.

Celebrities of the world opera stage became also the participants of the concert: Alexey Markov, Aida Garifullina, Gevorg Hakobyan, Ildar Abdrazakov, Albina Shagimuratova, Mikhail Kazakov, and Akhmed Agadi.

There were no empty seats, and it's not a surprise as the tickets for the Chaliapin.Nureyev.Kazan Festival were sold in three days after they came into the market. The audience including Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and composer Igor Krutoy clapped and shouted 'bravo' after each performance. People's Artist of Tatarstan, the winner of the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan named after G. Tukay Albina Shagimuratova who delivered her signature performance - Lucia's aria from the opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti was greeted with especial warmth.

The grand and colourful show was closed with Jalil aria Goodbye, Kazan from the opera of Tatar composer Nazib Zhiganov Jalil. The aria was performed by Honoured Artist of Russia and People's Artist of Tatarstan Akhmed Agadi with the choir of the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil directed by choirmaster Lyubov Draznina.

The Chaliapin.Nureyev.Kazan International Music Festival was held during the 27th Summer Universiade in the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil. Famous artists of the world opera and ballet stage became the participants of the festival. The programme consisted of operas Eugene Onegin, Aida, Turandot, Porgy and Bess, and ballets Spartacus, Anyuta, Swan Lake, Shurale.
