Russia’s Sofia Petrenko stated that she wanted to finish the heat in the women's open water 10km during the third race out of four at the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.

On Wednesday, Petrenko finished tenth in the women's open water 10km.
“The result is below average, I planned at least for the sixth. The water was warm again, as it was two years ago in China at the Universiade, but it’s not an excuse, though it’s difficult to swim in warm water. I wanted to finish during the third race, but hadn’t enough strength,” said Petrenko to the R-Sport agency. “It is possible to get used to warm water, it’s just that I’m a Northern person, and used to cold water, and I guess the failure is because of the lack of experience and fitness,” added Petrenko.
