Famous Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre is in Kazan

Artists of the famous St.-Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre of Boris Eifman presented Kazan residents and guests a wonderful evening.

It is well-known among admirers of the dance art by such performances as Red Giselle, The Seagull, Rodin, Anna Karenina, The Karamazovs and many others. Productions of Eifman are popular in Russia as well as abroad. So, and this time the team flew from Israel to the capital of Tatarstan for participation in the Chaliapin.Nureyev.Kazan International Music Festival held as part of the Cultural Universiade. But today the part of the troupe is already leaving to Cyprus; the rest of the team will take part in the Closing Ceremony of the Universiade at the Kazan Arena Stadium.

It is not coincidence that Boris Eifman is called the leader of modern choreographers by critics. Bright vivid performances by young talented artists do not leave spectators impartial.  In the staging Onegin performed in the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil; the main role of Tatyana was performed by the winner of international competitions, the winner of the Golden Mask and Golden Soffit awards Maria Abashova.

"I am from Lviv," Maria tells about herself. "I graduated from Bthe allet Conservatory St. Pölten (Austria). Since 2002 I am the soloist of the ballet theatre directed by Boris Eifman. Me favourite productions are Rodin, The Karamazovs."    

In Maria's repertoire there are such roles as Mother (Requiem) Grushenka (The Karamazovs), Orthodox (My Jerusalem), Anna (Anna Karenina) and many others.

She visited Kazan before, and according to her impressions she is astonished by dramatic changes in the image of the Tatar capital. "Kazan changed remarkably," Maria said. "Everything became so beautiful, I will return here with pleasure. And parting I wish Kazan citizens to stay the same hospitable."

The Theatre Director Gennady Albert told about other artists who performed the major parties of the ballet Onegin. They are the winner of the Golden Mask and Golden Soffit awards Oleg Gabyshev (Onegin), the winner of the Golden Soffit award Dmitry Fisher (Lensky), Natalia Povoroznyuk (Olga), and Oleg Markov (General).

This is our fifth visit to Kazan due to the initiative of the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil," Albert said. "We've developed friendly relations, and they invite us almost every year. We have already performed many plays and hope that the cooperation will be continued. We wish our Kazan spectators new friendly meetings with the true art."
