Three days before the opening of the 27th Summer Universiade, Kazan cyclists Alen Khairullin and Pavel Grachev returned to the capital city of Tatarstan, after they had travelled around the world.

Alen Khairullin and Pavel Grachev, two bicycle tourists from Kazan who embarked on a bicycle tour around the world dedicated to the 2013 Summer Universiade and the 100th anniversary of the circumnavigational journey undertaken by Kazan-born Onisim Pankratov, are getting closer and closer to their home city. On June 12, in the evening, they reached Omsk.

The Kazan cyclists are continuing their journey across Russia, and they have already reached Irkutsk.

Alen Khairullin and Pavel Grachev, two bicycle tourists from Kazan who embarked on an epic cycle trip almost six months ago, are finally back on home soil this weekend. As the press office of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan reports, as of today the cyclists have travelled an immense distance and crossed Europe from Latvia to Portugal, North America from the East Coast to West Coast, and visited such large cities as Beijing and Harbin in China.

Two bicycle tourists from Kazan, who had set off on a world cycling tour in November 2012, left the hospitable city of Beijing on Sunday and continued their journey to northeast China. During their trip across the Celestial Empire, the cyclists will make a stop in Harbin and travel through Manchuria's scenic countryside to later cross the Chinese-Russian border and reach Chita. The 47-year-old teacher Pavel Grachev and the 26-year-old IT engineer Alen Khairullin dedicate their epic round-the-world tour to the 2013 Summer Universiade and the 100th anniversary of the circumnavigational journey undertaken by Kazan-born Onisim Pankratov.

The cyclists who five months ago embarked on a world cycling tour commemorating the upcoming 2013 Summer Universiade and the 100th anniversary of Onisim Pankratov's journey around the world, have finally reached Los Angeles after crossing the United States from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Not long ago they have left Atlanta, GA and have already reached the state of Alabama.
